TYPE-XV SOAR NY project
TYPE-XV SOAR NY project is a collaborative project with SOAR NY, a global design studio led by New York–based graphic designer and creative director Masaki Hanahara.
By fusing A-POC ABLE’s unique clothes-making techniques with SOAR NY’s graphic design, this project explores new expressions of beauty in modern life, free from conventional limitations.
In its first release, the project presents two series created in collaboration with SOAR NY.
TYPE-XV 001
SOAR NY has meticulously integrated its graphic design with A-POC ABLE’s proprietary “Baked Stretch” pleating technique, resulting in striking motifs characterized by vivid colors and playful typography. Three distinct graphic expressions are realized in dresses and pants.
During the printing process, garment patterns are pre-designed on printing plates and then layered with pleat structures and graphic patterns, achieving a visually and structurally unified appearance. Using the Baked Stretch technique, where fabric printed with a special adhesive expands under high heat, flat graphics rise into three-dimensional forms, allowing the pleats to become an integral part of the graphic design.
When worn, the sculptural forms and patterns come to life, shifting in response to the wearer’s movement. This series presents new possibilities for beauty discovered through motion.
TYPE-XV 002、003
Dynamic graphics are printed onto A-POC’s signature seamless knit, forming a T-shirt series defined by bold, contemporary patterns that are emblematic of SOAR NY.

From SOAR NY
Our project with A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE was a challenge that opened up new possibilities for graphic design.
Graphics charged with “Momentum”, where lines and colors overlap, are transformed into three-dimensional structures through the innovative “Baked Stretch” technology, becoming living expressions only when worn by the human body. This is precisely what we at SOAR NY pursue as the “expansion of graphic design”.
We invite you to experience the beauty found in movement, born from the interplay of meticulous calculation and chance. We hope these pieces bring new surprises and exhilaration to the everyday lives of those who encounter them.
SOAR NY
SOAR NY is a New York-based design studio working on projects globally. Starting with the question, “What is beauty?”, the studio pursues graphic design that brings a new sensibility to urban spaces and lifestyles from a global perspective.
Commissioned by New York City in 2025, SOAR NY created a large-scale public art installation in Brooklyn’s DUMBO district—marking the first time a Japanese designer has been selected for this honor. Key accolades include Gold awards at the New York ADC and The One Show. In recent years, the studio has also served on the juries for international design awards such as the New York ADC and D&AD (London).
