The KURA gallery at ISSEY MIYAKE KYOTO presents KURA Exhibition “KASURI.”

IM MEN started in 2021 as a menswear brand to pursue new possibilities of design and making, while still thinking about Issey Miyake’s concept “a piece of cloth.” This exhibition presents the creative journey and production process behind “KASURI,” which was unveiled in the Autumn Winter 2026/27 collection.

“Kasuri” is a traditional Japanese textile made with threads dyed in sections beforehand, creating a faint, blurred pattern. By uniquely developing this technique, we have woven a fabric in which roughness, delicacy, and deep shades coexist within a single piece of cloth. To maximise the textile’s character and texture, we designed an extremely simple structure based on a single rectangle. This creates a natural drape, resulting in garments that are more layered and three-dimensional.
